scribblemyname: (apply fanfic?)
I have FORTY-SEVEN prompts stashed on my docket!?

Some are even in progress. :headdesk:
scribblemyname: (steaming)
So in case it were not already obvious, I like challenges. I sign up for more of them than I should because they stretch my brain in new directions and help me break writing blocks and lulls. Here is my card for the trope bingo, all stories due by the end of May. I'm considering a one-line bingo or a double-line bingo where I use the tropes from two parallel lines in one set of fics.

I'm also totally torn on fandoms and pairings, but I'll figure it out. Right now, I'm considering going rare pair or tiny, miniscule fandoms I recently fell in love with, such as Blue (TV series), Good Will Hunting, post-Allegiant canonical fic, Starwalker by Melanie Edmonds, etc. Or I could go with the same pairings I'm working with right now, such as Clint Barton/Bobbi Morse, Aaron Cross/Marta Shearing, Jason Bourne/Nicky Parsons, Jason Bourne/Marie Kreutz, or even a pairing I used to write a ton of such as Rogue/Remy or something like that. Or I could stick to single-character fics instead of going the pairing route.

Still considering.

scribblemyname: (bookish)

So, I’ve been wondering if I can pull off finishing a full-length book (novella, novel, who cares), and then Nano rolls around. Brilliant! But now I have to pick one.

City of Glass

A serialized novel about glass, nanotech, and space. The women of the Alliance seem bound by the world they live in: space ships and colonies, schools and councils, the cities of glass and steel. What happens when the glass cracks?

A family she never knew, a lover she never wanted, a power she never dreamed of.

Alexia Henry knows her father is remarried, but it comes as a surprise when he takes her on his journey to explore a mysterious phenomenon in the French Pyrenees that may lead to her mother’s homeland. Dreams comes to life, long-forgotten stories become reality, and the only way to Vardin is through the storm.

Either? Neither? Something else you’ve been wanting me to write?

From [ profile] trovia and [ profile] lithiumlaughter. I asked for both; I've got to give.

Make up a title for a story I didn't write and I will respond with details of those non-written stories.

Title: The Bridge
Summary: Hannah didn't want to know. She was completely cut off from it, and it hurt too terribly much.

Hannah didn't really know what to believe. Maybe Michael really did somehow magically cross that barrier from one world into another where their son still lived.

She didn't want to know. She couldn't stand to know, because she was completely cut off from it, and it hurt too terribly much.

She wondered sometimes why Michael was so much stronger, but he was the one who got to hold Rex and tell him he loved him one last time. "You're the last part of Rex I have," she'd told him. If she was ever brave enough to use that bridge again.

Tell him I love him.

I will.

Title: Orphan
Summary: Emma didn't even have the benefit of the normal warning signs.

Emma didn't even have the benefit of the normal warning signs. She figured it out after she went more than two months without a period.

Oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man, oh—

Outwardly, she was calm. That's how she was taught to be, and she saw no reason to change that now. She just had to tell her parents and think this through and write a letter of complaint to the manufacturer of her favored birth control.

—man. The man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with is dead. He's gone, and I'm—

She could do this. She could be strong and raise a child by herself. Mothers did it all the time, and so many of those kids turned out great. So many widows or divorcees who did just fine.

Emma laid her head on her hands and cried.

So, flist, if you also need a way to pass the day, give me fic/art prompts! Rules are
1) They must have an Avengers X-Men character (or two, or ten).
1.a) But feel free to include any other character from any other fandom you think I may be familiar with.
2) A line, 5 words or more, from any book/magazine/comic/pamphlet/newspaper/etc within reach of your left hand.
3) Food least likely to double as a weapon.

Dear Muse:

Not copascetic (sp?). I have a fic due yesterday for [ profile] ladies_fest. Now is not the time to hit me over the head with a fantabulous angsty original romance short with a possible market of Strange Horizons. Got it?

the scribbler
scribblemyname: (mind over matter)
Then pray hard. I'm less than 3 hours from not being able to get this [ profile] ladies_fest fic out the door on time and I've got a last-second beta waiting for it.

I officially hate this prompt. It inspired me for that much and then left me hanging out to dry.
scribblemyname: (cassidy freeman)
but I prompted, so here goes:

from [ profile] arliddian:

The first five people to comment get to post a prompt that I will use to write a fic. In return, they post this challenge into their journal and write fics for whoever responds, no matter the level of experience or ability.

Feel free to get creative with my fandoms or pairings. Just no slash please.

1. I'm on the pretty list for [ profile] femgenficathon! Though I admit I probably won't sign up for it again.

2. I got another review reminding me that, of all my fics, Son o' de Guild is the best, and I really ought to continue it. Promise to self: I will.

3. I've got enough work to do today to fill a week.

4. If I'm a bad girl, I'll probably squeeze fandom in anyway.

5. 52: Full Deck is finally drafted! This is a story of 52 words for the meaning of each card in a deck, and I've been working on it for far too long. It's off to beta with heavenmetal.

6. I really do need to get started on my Roswell/X-Men Movieverse crossover.

7. I decided that if a nice good fic exchange comes up that's still taking fandom signups, I want a crossover of the Secret Garden and Little Princess movies with Colin/Sarah and Mary/Dickon, grown up of course.

8. More about what face I want to give my readers. I'm reading up as I plot my launch of Liana Mir.

9. By the way, I am now totally in love with nori wraps.

A while back, I wrote about the road and choosing what I want to do. Some of you may have noticed, I've been floundering around a little for myself, trying to find a direction and purpose that leads to some consistency.

Well, this here by Melanie Edmonds, who writes one of the awesomest web serials, Starwalker, sums up what I want to do with The Peninsula and haven't succeeded at yet.

I want to create a serial that I can just focus on and accomplish, week in and week out. I have a world and characters and a number of starting points to choose from, but nothing has rung true, like this is it.

I know I want a revolving ensemble cast and different threads all coming together, but I don't really know what I want. Not something too claustrophobic, but something I can get excited about every time it's time to update. :heaves sigh:

Promiscuous can actually be a pain.
scribblemyname: (interpretation: confused)
Somebody's rant and then comment made me want to do a comic using caps of movies/actors/etc. for a little mutant soap opera: Baby Makes Three.

Summary: Raven's in big trouble when she tells her brother Charles the truth—he's about to be an uncle, and he decides to wreak vengeance on her boyfriend. The problem: her boyfriend isn't the father.

One panel done. I am officially nuts.

scribbler wanders about and finds muse sitting, hunched over a laptop and clacking away

:pokes muse:

"What are you doing?" the scribbler asks.

"Shh. I'm working," says the muse.

"On what?" :peer's over shoulder: "Uh-huh." It's blue. Lots of blue.

"It involves rain," the muse answers. "I like rain."

"Let me guess," asks the scribbler. "It's in Vardin."

"Wouldn't you like to know," the muse mutters back.

"Have you considered working on something due, like A Deadly Woman?" asks the scribbler, somewhat irritated.

The muse waves this off. "In the bag."

:taken aback: "Care to share with your hands and your feet?"

"Well, it's simple..."

Apparently, I just had to ask nice. :headdesk:
