Kingdoms and Thorn Ficlet: The Coming of Sophocles
“You got me a kitten?” Rachelle asked, incredulous.
Said kitten mewed plaintively and nuzzled her hand. Rachelle groaned. Housewarming was
not
supposed to be this problematic.
Red Wolf laughed softly at her. “He’s from an affectionate breed.”
She hmphed.
“What are you going to call him?” Sear asked, daring to pet the offending creature.
Rachelle resigned herself to the inevitable. “Sophocles.”
Red Wolf blinked. “As in tragedies?”
The rest of her team chuckled, but Rachelle disagreed.
“As in, that cat is doomed to the indoors the rest of his life. He’s just going to have to get philosophical about it.”
