MCU Drabble: A Violent Grace

They call her graceful in a fight.

She says thank you because it's expected, it's polite, and she's all about appearances, but not the beautiful appearances—the effective ones.

Natasha was beautiful when she needed to be, utilitarian when she needed to be, homely or mousy or stunning as the need arose, but when she really went to work and showed them all why her name was the Black Widow, when she fought sweaty and bloody and dirty and scraped up and ruthless, she wasn't graceful, wasn't beautiful.

Killing wasn't beautiful. She was a weapon, not a piece of jewelry.
