So I signed up for Nanowrimo, and ONLY because there's a 50% off Scrivener attached to winning. Am I pathetic or just greedy for Scrivener?

Ahem. Anyway...

So got Scrivener all set up on my machine, replied to a couple comments, noted I really ought to peek at the hundreds of spam notifications in my email, but decided not to. Thought I'd write more off the computer, but percolated instead. While I did get something written, it was short enough to lump it in with when I actually finished the piece.

Calling it a night.

Scrivener is a nice program, though. I like using its random name generator.

I owe you comments on Dowse and Bleed. I can't find coherency at the moment, though. I liked it, I just can't seem to say anything about it. :(

I will try and get some coherency together later. My brain does not seem to be working at the moment, though I suppose if I had one (minor) complaint, it was that there wasn't enough Justus in it, lol.

Alas! Since this broke their not-speaking period, it's to be expected.

Yeah, I know. I just like them together, so I missed him in this one, even if I knew why he wasn't in most of it.

Though it would be an interesting thought if he had come in to work with them during this. They wouldn't necessarily have needed Rachelle then, but them having to work together would be something to see.

I don't think he would have been particularly helpful. I think they really did need Rachelle or some other really good forensics-type person.

You're right, they needed her, but he could have taken up Manning's role, I guess.

I'm just a sucker for couples that work together well, I guess.

'Cept then again, he wasn't someone to be wresting the case from. :grins:

But yeah, I get your point. You'd like to see them working together outside of the Department context. Problem is, they don't really. I'd have to come up with a good reason, and it would have to involve HIS team needing Rachelle.

Haha. I shouldn't find that so funny, and I shouldn't think of saying I should prompt more monsters... Though I had a horrible AU thought to throw at you and haven't, so I guess I'm not that bad, not as bad as I could be.

That Kilter wasn't kept from knowing about Elizabeth. That they were able to use that against him, too.

Yeah. Um... I said it was a horrible idea.

I did think of that one once. I couldn't make it plausible with the characters, but it would make a good straight-up fanfic what-if. Hm. I don't think I'm up for it due to the utter angst thereof and other canon fics to be done, but yeah. It is interesting thinking.

I was considering the Shift/Kilter dynamic now, what I've seen of it, and I thought about how different it would be if they'd both paid the price for their daughter. Of course, I kept going back to the idea that it would have corrupted him in a way where he wasn't him, and I don't think Thorn would have lasted as long as it did... Or maybe neither of them would have.

I thought about the idea of Burnfire's team not opting to stay, either, but that was more of a passing thing.

Yeah, I haven't really dove back into Team Five and Seven because I played it all out and now, I have to dredge the memory banks for it. I didn't end up writing the book and jettisoned most of my material. Which makes recreating a bear. It's still there though. The bones of it gave me a lot of other bones, including this entire storyworld.

Well, it's good it gave you all this story world.

No. I gave up the book for a reason. It went with the book that blocked me on original fiction for a year and a half. Emotionally, it's all tied up in that mess and if I go back there, I think I'd lose half my soul, so I don't mess with it. What's gone is gone. I might write more about those teams, but I'll never write THAT story. And I repurposed several key characters from it so I'd make it mutually exclusive with current canon.

Does that mean that there won't ever be the linchpin story with Burnfire staying, then?

There'll be a ficlet. I'd never written that scene, though it played in my head. And there will be other ficlets, just not the book about those two teams.

Oh, okay.

Forgot to ask what your username for nano is so I can add you as a buddy. I'm stuck with my old name unless I want to delete my account, and I don't think I much like that idea, even as much as the former username no longer fits.

Hmm. I couldn't find it when I looked, but I could be doing it wrong. I forget how I added people to my list before, not that I have a lot or anything.
