Allegiant's Out

And let's face it: usually I don't mind spoilers. After Insurgent, I did want to see what I was getting into. I'm glad I did. I'm going to wait until lithiumlaughter or in_the_blue share what they thought, because I have a real problem with logic issues (read: HUGE problem) and I'm on the fence with whether I'll take the finale very well.

Uh oh. That sounds bad.

I'm going to pretend I got the almost happy ending in book one. *covers ears*

I'm at 8%, I didn't read/hear any spoilers. But if it follows form like Hunger Games did, the first book will remain the best.

I don't mean it's bad so far. Just reminiscent.

Oooooh boy.

My copy hasn't shipped out yet (come on, Amazon! Hustle!). I refuse to spoiler myself, but now I'm going to be worried as I'm reading it. Argh.

Even at the worse, at the very least there'll always be 'Divergent'? Right?

Received and read.

Okay, so the first half of the book fell a little flat. It isn’t that it was HORRIBLE, it was just…flat, relative to what I’d come to expect of Veronica Roth based on “Divergent” and “Insurgent”. I made it through that first half, set the book aside.

I picked it up again this morning because hell, I should finish it. May as well find out how it all worked out. I’m attached to the characters, after all. I didn't want to leave them hanging.

AND THEN THERE WAS THE SECOND HALF.

AND THEN THERE WAS THE ENDING.

WHAT.

Please. Thoughts. Need.

The Four narration is actually pretty interesting. It's a little bit of a shift from the previous two books and their being narrated exclusively by Tris, which made me blink a little to start. It was actually a neat choice on Roth's part. It makes sense, given the story itself, but I digress.

See, in terms of logic, I'm not always that hard to please. I can have a very forgiving willing suspension of disbelief. The logic is a little odd at times, yes, and I did look sideways at a little of it, but for the most part I could let it go. Different world, different rules, and I'm okay with giving it some slack and an understanding handwave. I'm not saying that I completely and totally bought in, but I got *where* Roth was going and 90% of the time *why* she was headed there.

"Divergent" will obviously always be the best of the bunch. Always and forever and I'm totally going to go watch the trailer for the movie now and maybe do a "Divergent" reread...
Don't count "Allegient" out though. It does do some things very well, and the ending hits hard right in the squishy bits.
