Dipping Toes in Fandom...

From [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce:

Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!

A/N: Now, I'm sure you all realize that there is absolutely no way that I can or should list every. single. WIP. I got for some obvious reasons (sheer volume), but I'll do the first three sentences of the next chapters of WIPs in my Doc Manager.

1. Mapped 2: Tracing Footprints

She groans when she sees him coming.

It's late and rain clouds have darkened the already dark sky to a lonely sort of blackness. It's just Paint and Rogue pulling shift tonight at the diner, them and Benny, their short-order cook in the back.

2. Son o' de Guild, chapter 10

"It's about time you hit the sack, kid." Logan eyed Rogue's sprawled form across his bed.

She'd ensconced herself there right after classes and refused to move until he told her absolutely everything rated PG-13 ("I am seventeen years old, you know, Logan," she'd reminded him with a scathing glare.) or less about his entire trip, which was basically a wash. No clues to his past, just an empty base and nothing to jog his nonexistent memory.

3. Snippet: Body Heat 'verse

Private Investigator Anna Marie Darkholme was known as a bit of a rogue with the Caldecott police force. She'd gotten her start the old fashioned way, coming up through the ranks, until she balked long and hard on giving up a dead case. Naturally, being the daughter of the harsher of legendary—and still active—partners Irene Adler, who always had that uncanny knack for predicting a mark's next move, and Raven Darkholme, the, bar none, most formidable officer in the district—Rogue, as the younger Darkholme was called, had little difficulty getting official blessing to continue on the case long after the district had dropped it.

4. Without a Trace, chapter 17

La Femme Fatale, the fierce, nameless patron of the New York Thieves Guild, traveled quickly and without company—in a swirl of sulphurous scent and enshrouded within her cloak. She had learned from years of using borrowed powers—those of Witness and Nightcrawler in particular—not to travel time and space at once.

She stepped briskly down the steps into her quarters at the New York Guild.

5. Diable, chapter 4

Gambit wakes to the shaking and trembling of the entire facility. He wakes as he always does when he senses trouble, alert, still, and with a lightning fast inventory taken of all available weapons.

or

Essex turned to the devil in shadow at the back of his lab. "And?"

"She's restin'," the diable replies. His gaze does not wander over the beakers and test subjects, or even stray to his lover's face. He has never had time for distraction.

6. Going Omega, chapter 3

No kills, had been scrawled across her mission files.

Raven snarled and crumpled the paper in her hand.

It's a bad moment when the blast of fiery knowledge razes her brain.

7. The Way of the Rogue, chapter 4

Rogue found out quickly why the team let Corrigan be. It was his helicopter.

8. Body Heat, chapter 2

When she returns to her rented apartment, she finds an engraved invitation to one of the most exclusive parties in New Orleans waiting for her. She has no doubts who issued it.

Of course, she accepts.

9. The Domestics, Recipe for Disaster

Sam moved quickly by the kitchen, craning his neck this way and that on the hunt for the object of his affections. A stuffed teddy bear smiled over its box of chocolate caramels behind his back.

He stopped, froze, backtracked to stare with openfaced horror into the kitchen.

10. Whisper, chapter 16

Remy is wrapping up in his classroom when he feels a prickling between his shoulder blades. He knows this feeling, the weighty discomfort of being watched. For a moment, he's thrown back into a map of bad memories, heart racing, but dismisses his students calmly before looking up into the doorway.

OH my GAWD, where do I even start asking questions? :D

Mapped 2: Tracing Footprints
-- How long has Rogue been working in this restaurant/diner/kitchen? Does she like it or is it just a place to make ends meet? What are the daily specials?

Snippet: Body Heat 'verse
-- Is there anyone in the force who dislikes Anna-Marie because they think she's coasting on her parents' reputation? How many years has she been in the force? Did she always want to be a cop? Who died? (because someone's going to die, right? *cough*)

You can't see it, but I'm making grabby-hands.
