As I said, I’m a University student. I study Publishing with English at Loughborough University, England.

The topic of my project is “Fandoms and Communication: Online Interactions in Young Adult Fiction Fandoms.” If you’re now thinking “Well, I’m not in a YA fiction fandom, so I’m just going to leave,” jokes on you, because please don’t leave.

The aim of this tumblr is simple – I want to show how we interact in fandoms. How we talk to each other, how we spread things through the fandom, how we recommend Things Relevant To Our Interests to each other. I want to show just how awesome fandoms really are.

I’m focusing on books, because I’m a publishing-student. It’s kind of my thing, but if it’s not really your thing, it doesn’t matter. This is open to all fandoms. Books, tv-shows, movies, bands, actors, comic books – anything and everything. You are all welcome here.

To do this, I have created a short – honestly, it’s super-short – questionnaire. If it takes you more than a minute to complete, I will be amazed.

Once you’re done answering, I want you to spread the word. You know that movie with the “I see dead people”-kid, where he helps five people, and then they help five people? It’s kind of like that, only not as humanitarian.

All you need to do is reblog this post. Or tweet about it. DM it to a fandom-friend. Mention it on your blog, if you want to. Just spread it as far as you can. Do it once, do it twice, do it fifty times – do it whenever and wherever you want. Just tell someone. Help me show how awesome fandoms truly are.

This questionnaire will be up for three weeks. It will close on 6th March. After that, I will put together the results, and post them here so you can see stuff like which books were really popular, and which fandom had the most participants.

This questionnaire is open to everyone, but due to ethical reasons, I must suggest that anyone under the age of 18 ask for parental permission before submitting their responses. I say this in the unlikely event that someone’s parents should object, but I don’t really have any way of checking if you actually did ask first, so… yeah.
