The eating particularly helps NSAIDs to not mess with your stomach lining. Hypoglycemia runs in the family, so I basically have food in my stomach at all times except when I first wake up and when I'm headed for bed. I've never had a problem with naproxen. (Ibuprofin on the other hand...)
