Check-In: Where have I been and why have I been there?

So.

Y’all might have noticed that with the exception of the Insurgent countdown, I’ve been pretty much absent without leave. But as always, there are reasons, and I’m going to cover them in brief before resuming a semi-regular posting schedule.

1. Earth to the scribbler…

So I’ve been writing. And compiling. And percolating a guest post for Rabia Gale. And making inquiries to Robin Cornett re: making me a book cover like Rabia’s gorgeous Shattered. And writing. And digging out old scraps of stories that I can pull together into compilations and completed stories. And compiling. And writing. And banging head over recalcitrant book cover. And banging head over story that wants to be written and doesn’t want to be written, all at once (Safe). And figuring out how to earn more money off of all this stuff. (I’ve got ideas, but they take so long to implement!)

And writing.

2. La Musica

I’m doing the theme music for a movie trailer (more on that once the trailer is out). It’s a lot of work, especially for a nonmusician. I may be able to compose, but to play what I hear? What someone wants? It’s a whole lot easier to throw notes together and experiment and fiddle with instruments and settings than it is to try to match what someone else is hearing in their head. This is sucking up quite a bit of my time right now that I wish was going toward income-production.

3. Also considering writing a serial, if I can figure out how not to write in layers.

1 and 2) This is why I think I may need to invest in an e-reader. I'm clearly missing out on awesome things, and I can't stand to read HTML off my computer screen for too long...
...there's one for ninety nine bucks that I could get my hands on. It's pretty nifty. I have birthday money coming my way. Hmmmm.

3) Write on, my dear. You will be all kinds of awesome, and things WILL come together for you.

4) Oooooh! Creating music? Goodness me, you are a woman of many talents. I look forward to hearing how this plays out.

1 and 2) She's doing print books, so you can actually order Spots now in paperback. And it's gorgeous, and I couldn't get into the story without said paperback, so there's a thought. And I'm so trying to scrape together $50 to help fund the art book 'cause that's where you hit paperback on the incentives.

3) Thank you! I'm hopeful. Though at this point, I would love to hire a compiler, or at least someone to look through all the WIP snippets I yanked from hidden niches on my computer system and tell me which to expand and rewrite first. :headdesk:

4) Yes. Very scary, this music stuff. But I like your pun actually and might throw up some of the little stuff I've got already. Thinking on it anyway... Got a few other posting type of fish to fry.
