So the idea of a piece of serial fiction has been bouncing around in this head for a while now, but I was always convinced I lacked the strength to discipline myself and convinced I lacked the commitment and the ability to write linear without going back to edit, and then, this quote rammed me upside the head and a good look at my profile full of serial fanfiction clinched the deal.

I’ve been afraid. To experiment, to push myself.

Here goes the push.

City of Glass has been percolating in my head for a long time. It’s a novel of the Alliance and is inspired by several fandom ficlets, an original trunk novel, and a handful of other sources. It’s got issues I don’t feel half-qualified to address, a woman still dealing with her childhood trauma, a practicing Jew in a far-future world, and hard science on a level I haven’t played with all that much. But the characters are there. The story is there. The only one not there has been me.

So I’m taking away my own excuses and drafting in WordPress on scheduled posts. That’s right. Ready or not, my site will post each installment for me. On a whim, I chose Thursday to start.

:crosses fingers:

Here we go.

Yay! Good for you.

Serial fiction is a good thing, I think, and deadlines are helpful, too. I kind of miss my daily blog story (I kind of don't) and I need to get myself ready to do another plus edit that one...

Anyway, have fun and enjoy the challenge. It's a good thing to try.
