Angst, Fluff, and Inferno

scribblemynameLet's take the third first. Overhauling the story from inferno, aka "Dowse and Bleed," left me feeling drained and exhausted, but it's out to beta and may she not find any more structural issues that need addressing. For that matter, may I not!
On angst: I write a lot of it. I know that. I've been buried it in lately and I feel a desperate need for something light, fluffy, and humorous, so on to point two:

Kingdoms and Thorn Ficlet: A Quiet Interlude
Date: 2013-09-09 08:35 pm (UTC)Whisper had already straightened up the rest of the house and put the children to bed before she stepped into her own bedroom. She found Wolf stretched out on the pillowless bed beneath one spare blanket, trying and failing to actually sleep.
“Alpha.” She touched him lightly on the shoulder as she settled onto her side. Startling him wasn’t something she cared to do late at night.
“What happened to the pillows?” he groused, then shook his head. “Never mind. I don’t want to know.”
She laughed softly. “Come here.” She stretched out and pulled him into her arms.
“I should be doing this for you,” he muttered but without heat or any move to change positions.
Whisper held him and wondered if he could hear her heartbeat as she ran her hands through his hair until his breathing evened and at last, he fell asleep.

And its a pillow moment. :D
