So since I’m thinking about doing Yuletide this year, I thought I would mention the fandoms I’m hoping to nominate in hopes that others might be interested in nominating, requesting, and/or offering these fandoms. I linked to and quoted from Wikipedia.

Divergent Trilogy

In a futuristic world, Chicago is divided into five factions based on people's personalities. Beatrice "Tris" Prior, a young girl who comes from the Abnegation, has to make a choice to stay with her family where she does not fit in, or join in a group she loves. Soon, she learns that she is Divergent a person who does not fit into any one faction and discovers a sinister plot brewing in her seemingly perfect society.

The Secret Garden (1993)

The Secret Garden is a 1993 British Drama fantasy film based on the novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The film was directed by Agnieszka Holland.

Awake (TV):

Michael lives in two separate realities after a car accident. In one reality (where he wears a red wristband), his wife Hannah survives the accident; in the other reality (where he wears a green wristband), his son Rex survives. Michael does not know which reality is "real", and uses the wristbands to differentiate the two. He sees two therapists: Dr. Jonathan Lee in the "red reality" and Dr. Judith Evans in the "green reality". At work, Michael's erratic behavior triggers clashes with his team; they do not know about Michael's uncanny ability to solve crimes using details from both realities.

Really, the rules are pretty simple, they just make them a lot more complicated than they need to be.

1. Nominate and request rare fandoms
2. Write the story assigned to you

That's it. I feel like an old-timer, I've done Yuletide 4 times now? 5? Back before it was hosted on AO3 and when it was much smaller, there weren't so many rules about what constitutes a rare fandom. I think that's where a lot of the confusion comes in, but really, we all know if our fandom's small (Divergent, at least until the movie comes out) or big (Harry Potter). Still, people try to nominate big fandoms every year because they love their fandoms. Nothing wrong with loving them, but they don't all belong in a rare fandom exchange. So a lot of rules have been established because people try to circumvent the rules. I get it. It's a huge exchange. But at heart, it's still pretty basic.

All the outside networking is completely optional. The most I ever do is write a "Dear Yuletide Author" letter in my journal and leave it at that.

People get obsessed over this exchange. It's no different from any other, except it's bigger. *shrug*
