I didn't rush into anything and I took my time and here I am.

Today, I skipped reading The Drought like I was supposed to and read Mind of My Mind by Octavia Butler and the collaboration fic so I could write in it.

Writing went well and is continuing. I also created the mass-market book cover for Dowse and Bleed. I like it better than the trade. I'll do the interior tomorrow.

So tonight, I added 19 sentences to Splintered Gates, which came out to 150 words. Now, I can go to bed.

Please stop mentioning when you skip the Drought. I don't mind if you don't read it, but I'd rather not hear about it at all.

I am glad the accountability is working for you.

I'd just personally rather not see my book discussed because every time I see it pushed back, I feel as though it is not good enough to be read and it clearly does not compete with all these others you've got to read. For me, it would be easier not to see it at all. I have issues. Obviously.

I haven't pushed it back previously this year. I haven't finished it though and I'm only counting finished. Yesterday, I pushed it back due to not wanting bleed with the collaboration. It compares, but I always take longer reading anything I intend to give feedback on. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I would have been clearer had I thought you were reading these posts.

I usually try to read your posts. I just haven't had much if anything to say and still kind of regret some of the things I have said as it continues to be a bad time of year for me. At first, I was all excited to see it on the list, but then you were buying lots of other things and reading them first and even though I told myself not to care, it was bothering me, so I figured I'd ask it not to be talked about. Then I wouldn't compare it to the other stuff and feel like it was a lesser/quality and priority. It is my issue, as I said, and I almost didn't ask, but I just wanted to feel like I could read the posts without being bothered by seeing my story mentioned. *sigh*

Now I have made it worse again.

Nah. You're fine. It was my fault for not mentioning I was reading it in portions. I don't get as lost when I'm supposed to, you know, talk to the author afterward because I'm supposed to be paying attention to the words along the way, something that disappears when I go into straight reader mode.

So I wasn't clear and I did do some of that reading particularly trying to figure out certain things for my writing. I wasn't very clear, so I will make a better attempt on future points to be clear. I have a tendency to state the bottom line and fill in the details later. Not a good tendency, mind.

It is harder to read stuff when it is for editing, I know that. My mother always says that when she talks to others about my stuff, that she'd rather just read it than look for typos, but she rarely says anything to me about the stories anyway.

I didn't want to make an issue of it, really. I know you are busy and your process is far different from mine, but I just kept feeling like I couldn't look if there was something about the story there so I figured asking for a skip on discussing it would be better.

Makes sense. But on the bright side, I am going to be reading it next: tonight or tomorrow, depends on how much time I spend writing probably. Naturally, in-depth comments will arrive via email or PM.

While I intend to write my 1000 words and 7 sentences and typesetting a mass market size of D&B, actually I'd like to finish reading The Drought. I'm kinda trying to stick to in order too.

I understand that. I just...now I feel like I've pushed toward having it done when I know better because I know I can't handle looking at editing notes or editing, so I don't want to waste your time. That's why writing is better.

No, you didn't. I was pushing me, which is why I mentioned that I should've mentioned it was progressing, just not at the same speed because it's not just reading for enjoyment, though I considered doing that.

I'll work on making notes; you tell me when you actually want to read them, THEN I'll send them. They're not done yet.

I don't know if I'd ever be willing to ask for them, but that is a good idea.
