my "adele” pairing ("WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAAALL") Will/Christina, I will never forgive them for killing Will. Never.
my "hate sex” pairing Marcus/Evelyn
my "working on it” pairing Christina/Tobias or Cara/Tobias, I admit to seeing potential in both of these and it's weird that it doesn't bother me either, even though I'm pretty forever about Tris/Four. Cara had actual chemistry with him in the book and Christina was there in his grieving with the exact right kind of kick in the pants. I kinda just a bit ship both of these and how they could work their way there.

I'm kind of ignoring endgame in this fandom, since one or both halves of all my pairings ended up dead -- I put the book down and stared at it in disbelief, even though I had been vaguely spoiled and half-expected it. BUT. NARF

Also I agree on the across time pairing. Not really too fond of how much centered on the romance it got, in the later books, but yes. Yes.

As much as I love/hate deathfic, this was the kind I think worked. Every death after the first book felt right and real. I cannot tell you how much I hated Will's.

The romance was a hard element to balance, I think. She got a lot of flack for how much she didn't focus on it and how far they didn't go, but like you, I thought she could have toned it down some easily. Personally, I think it was the tension between the YA genre expectations of heavy romance and the genuine dystopian SF expectations, which is more what she was writing and why I expected no happy ending for all the characters and no easy fix it to the entire mess.

Yeah, but... Ah, I dunno. I do have an issue with hers. It was a sound and well-written ending, but still. Eeeeh.

There are people who complain about a LACK of romance in those books? Huh. Okay. But you may be right about trying to appeal to two genres.

I heard the flack before reading and did a real huh moment. The romance was plenty much to me.

I can see the not liking her death but I couldn't see a good non copout way around it either.

my "adele” pairing ("WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAAALL") Do Wash/Zoe count? 'Cause seriously. :heated muttering:
my "hate sex” pairing Mal/Inara, I love them but I think there'd be incidents of this
my "working on it” pairing Jayne/Kaylee, it was a fic, a nice pretty fic about how Kaylee could work with anyone, and I'm working on being okay with how much I liked said fic
my favorite threesome / poly ship nada
my platonic "their friendship is too precious to mess it up with romance" ship Zoe/Mal, but then they know that and made a point of it to Wash
my "i love it but don’t want it to happen" pairing River/Mal, I really much prefer to have Mal/Inara, even Kaylee ships them!

my endgame pairing Mal/Inara
my "across time and space they will always find each other" pairing River/Mal, I caught this ship on a time travel fic, so it's a natural outgrowth of that
