scribblemynameI apparently have lost the talent of writing a short letter, but really, take the parts you need and ignore the rest. I'm soooo happy you wrote fic for me, and I will probably love whatever you come up with.
General Squicks/Triggers/Loves:
I love deep platonic love, family fic, complicated relationships, backstory and history and established relationships. There's something about something with history and weight and depth that just does it for me. That said, I like developing trust and slow build fics, making friends, falling in love when it's not too-romance-movie-cliche. I love everything from gen to asexual romance to rated M or E romance, as long as everyone's in character. I like deep characterization and backstory, worldbuilding, chosen family, digging into a character's mental/emotional space, character studies, identity exploration, character competence, fluff, angst, and situational humor.
Please don't write embarrassment, graphic violence or gore, body-related humor, betrayal/infidelity, tragedy/deathfic, horror, character or ideology bashing, PWP (with plot, more than fine), first person fic, on-screen uncensored profanity. I also have no problem with assassination but do have a problem with murder. I know. Fine line.

Clint Barton/Bobbi Morse
What I Love About Canon:While the comics inspired my interest in this pairing, and I always love nods to the comics, what sold me on this ship and makes me want all the fic, so much more, is their characterization in MCU.
Bobbi is pretty much my favorite thing about Agents of SHIELD right now, and I liked the show plenty before she arrived. I love her characterization, her skillset, her self-sacrifice, her competence, her attitude, her personality, her Eskrima, and the stories from the past that pop up, like Dubai and Scarlotti (who almost killed Barton), etc.
Clint, in what little we've seen him on-screen before Age of Ultron (which I probably won't get to see before this fest is over), is not the same as in 616. He's a friendly, snarky introvert who is seriously competent and clearly quite close to Maria, Fury, and Natasha, who's his partner for life, just like Mack is Bobbi's. He cares about people, he cares about the things he's done, but he can move past things and get a job done anyway.
That said, combining those two together makes me very, very happy.
Canon AU - Comics Relationships History
I love the idea of using their relationships history in the comics as makes sense for your story. Within their MCU history, being exes or Bobbi having been brainwashed but that working out differently considering that in MCU, Clint's an assassin and wouldn't have the same hangups about her letting the guy die. Or just that whole on-off rollercoaster with Clint instead of Hunter, allowing again for difference of the characters and how they interact.
Canon AU - Sense Impaired Character
I adore deaf!Clint and would also love Deaf!Clint if you feel in any way up to tackling Deaf culture and how that would interact with international espionage and law enforcement. (And seriously, why wouldn't Bobbi fall for the guy that gave up his hearing for her?) TatyanaOracle turned me onto the idea of the Blindspot run and how that would affect MCU Clint and I would love to see Bobbi supporting him through going blind or being blind and how that would affect their relationship.
AU - Soulmates; AU - Soulmate-Identifying Marks
My favorite trope, bar none, especially when people dig under the surface with it and all its implications and how well it does or doesn't hit the road. I do prefer to stick to romantic soulmates for the exchange, but I am fascinated in how/when they appear, how it affects people's lives, what if it's there's a recessive gene where they don't appear for some people, how do the characters interact in a culture altered by soulmates or soulmarks, how do you know or not know if those marks indicate the one that's yours? I like pretty much all variations except names. If marks/bonds arise naturally, I like there to be some sort of underlying reason for it to form. I'm a science fiction geek and love when this stuff gets sciency, even in a handwavy sense.
AU – Military; AU - Law Enforcement; AU - Coffee Shops & Cafés
Clint having a military backstory and how excellent Bobbi is at that sort of thing, I'd love to see them in a military setting with or without any other trappings of MCU. Law enforcement same. Clint pretty much lives on coffee, and I could see him running a coffee shop (The Unusuals didn't hurt in developing this) or either working at one or just the two of them meeting at one. Go crazy.
AU - Leverage Crew
In a Leverage crew, I long for Clint to be the thief but can see Bobbi running a crew, being the grifter or a hitter, to be honest. For secondary characters, I'm wide open, but I love using characters that mean something to them in canon (MCU preferred to comics), like Mack and Natasha and Hartley, etc.
AU - Divergent fusion
I can't imagine them not being Dauntless if you put them in a Divergent type setting, but if you really, really see them as something else, I'm willing to be sold. I can see them interacting on the side of the Divergent stories or in the faction world outside of the story or with everything falling apart or even outside a faction city if you like. Makes me wonder if they implemented the Factions in New York.

What I Love About Canon: Besides everything? I love his concern for Melinda, how his heart's in his eyes when he's worried about her, their plans, that she always called him before going in, her laughter, he's still close to her mom, he kept her picture, she can't cook. Seriously, I want everything.
AU - Soulmates; AU - Soulmate-Identifying Marks
I adore soulmates. I adore soulmarks (except names). I adore the idea of what it means to be meant for someone and all the ways that can play out, work out, or fail. I love edge cases and possibilities and watching how soulmates premises work their way into culture and how characters fit into that. Are there ways to track down your soulmate? I could totally see either of them looking for the other, holding onto their belongingness, and the other being a holdout.
AU - Law Enforcement
Obviously. They'd fit here so well. Either pre-Bahrain or post-Bahrain characterization. Or you know, moving the Bahrain scenario into another premise/setting like law enforcement.
AU - Post-Apocalypse
May always comes back. I'd love to see survivor her and him keeping her sane and her keeping him safe.
AU - Bakery
Now that we know May canonically cannot cook, the idea of her and Andrew (longsufferingly) in a setting where that fatal lack of skill can go drastically wrong sounds adorable and funny and fun. I love the exploding, burning, bad cooking/baking trope.
Canon AU - Powers on Known Timer/Expiration
This is assuming an AU in which they had some sort of powers before… Name your point in canon. Or maybe the one with powers doesn't use their enhancement if possible so they won't use it all up? Just intriguing idea really.

What I love about canon: They strike me as reserved, you have to work your way through the professionalism type of people, and yet they also strike me as people who can and do rely on each other and I kind of loved the way they were sitting next to each other in the party scene in the AOU trailers. They just seem so comfortable together.
But romance? The fact that they're unlikely and would probably have to be thrown together to see it or work their way very slowly through trust issues and annoyances and one seeing it and the other not (typically, I like Clnt with Maria the resisting force) appeals to me. I kind of love the reluctant, you've got to be kidding me thing for them, including unlikely soulmates or blind date or fake relationship type of situations.
AU - Military
In comics canon, she came out of the military and he almost did. I do headcanon he's ex-military, and I'd love to see them interacting in that setting or one's a military spouse, etc.
AU – Neighbors and AU - Roommates/Housemates
The possibilities are endless, including she ends up being his go-to for taking care of Lucky and she tries to help him not be a disaster of a bachelor. Would love to see the annoyances and friendship and care that would come of them living somewhat together or cooking disasters or teaching each other basics of domesticity, getting comfortable, building trust, even being roommates because SHIELD assigned them joint living arrangements. Fit into canon or not, I really would love it all.

Again, a favorite of mine, especially when they're like, you've got to be kidding me, but one tentatively wants to try and the other's relieved they don't push and they slowly make their way their anyway, but really go wild. What I love about canon: Legacy babies, Skye being essentially adopted daughter of the current Director and May, who's the next in line for the job and Trip being descended from the Howling Commandos. His humor, her sarcasm. The way he lightens her up and the way they just seemed to get along so well. I fell for them hard in the first few episodes of season 2 and the way he went after her in the Kree temple just hit all my feels so incredibly hard.
I'd love to see epic cuddling, banter, humor, serious discussions where he doesn't let her get away with deflecting, or whatever's in character that floats your boat.
AU - Leverage Crew
Obviously, Skye's the hacker, but put Trip anywhere, and I will love you, even on opposing crews or attempting to recruit or they've been at this forever or go crazy.
AU - Soulmate-Identifying Marks and AU - Soulmates
My favorite trope. Go wild. The more detailed and thought out the consequences are, the more I love it.
AU - Superhero High School
I could not resist. I don't care if he's powered or not, but I can see him working in several capacities as trainer or staff there and she's just the perfect enrollee no matter how you look at it. If he's fellow student, that's totally fine too.
Or you know the Harvard and Yale of superpowered schools, only it's Xavier's vs Jiaying's and there is nothing tougher than being the senior staff's daughter.
AU - Star Trek fusion
Wouldn't he be handsome in a Starfleet uniform? And she's Inhuman, which works pretty well in a Star Trek universe if you ask me.
AU – Hackers
She's a hacker. He'd be a hilarious, delightful hacker. She'd take umbrage if he ever showed her up. Wide open here.

Identity exploration is one of my favorite things. As it works in their relationship would make me very, very happy.

Perhaps the obvious choice, but it would be so fun to see one or the other as an AI and interacting with this foreign person they start to fall for. Bonus points for spaceship/space station AI.

Because I could see them in those environments, her being his doctor, them both being patients, them always trying to check out the same books and their hands meet and he's too much of a gentleman to not let her have it and Fitz aiding and abetting and… Okay. What I love about canon: I started out shipping Bucky/Natasha, then I met Clint/Natasha, and I absolutely love Clint + Bucky, so this whole thing was inevitable. I love every dynamic and which way they're written as long they are all equals, competent, and recognized as equals—in the relationship and in their work/personal life.
I am open to soooo many AUs here that I shall only comment on a couple:
AU - Ballet
Natasha as an actual ballerina who works with Bucky, then they meet Clint. Well, she meets Clint but she's not about to let it stay that way.
Canon AU - Comics Relationships History
I love Natasha and Bucky having history like in the comics and I kind of adore the whole way she left Russia for Clint in the comics and his love broke her brainwashing, and I really would love to see either incorporated into the MCU.
Canon AU - Identity Porn
For any of them and any combination of interest/fascination. I adore identity exploration and really having a separate concept of the different identities they wear.

James "Bucky" Barnes/Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov
What I love about canon: I started out shipping Bucky/Natasha, then I met Clint/Natasha, and I absolutely love Clint + Bucky, so this whole thing was inevitable. I love every dynamic and which way they're written as long they are all equals, competent, and recognized as equals—in the relationship and in their work/personal life.

Canon AU - Comics Relationships History
I love Natasha and Bucky having history like in the comics and I kind of adore the whole way she left Russia for Clint in the comics and his love broke her brainwashing, and I really would love to see either incorporated into the MCU.
Canon AU - Identity Porn
For any of them and any combination of interest/fascination. I adore identity exploration and really having a separate concept of the different identities they wear.
Canon AU - Sense Impaired Character
I adore deaf!Clint and would also love Deaf!Clint if you feel in any way up to tackling Deaf culture and how that would interact with international espionage and law enforcement.

Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov
What I love about canon: Their intimacy and how they fit regardless of the level of romance or platonic they're at. Everything about them? Okay, I love this pairing and how they talk without words and know each other and fit and have all this history and belongingness however you interpret it. Love it all from domestic to angst. Just the general do not writes apply.
Canon AU - Sense Impaired Character

Shared world, adopt a mutant kid, they are mutant kids, go wild.

Favorite trope ever. I love exploring it on a deeper level, edge cases, etc. and love all its variations except name-based soulmarks. I'd also love to see recessive Clint whose mark doesn't show.
AU - Leverage Crew
I really, really want Clint to be the thief and Natasha to be the grifter. My absolute dream team Leverage crew would have Skye as the hacker, May as the hitter, and Maria as the mastermind.
AU - Hackers
I love hacker Natasha and however you want to slice Clint into that would make me very happy.
AU - Divergent fusion
I can't imagine them not being Dauntless if you put them in a Divergent type setting, but if you really, really see them as something else, I'm willing to be sold. I can see them interacting on the side of the Divergent stories or in the faction world outside of the story or with everything falling apart or even outside a faction city if you like. Makes me wonder if they implemented the Factions in New York.
AU - Space and AU - Artificial Intelligence
Where Clint salvages a ship called the Black Widow that went down in battle. It turns out to have a working AI, which is still highly pissed off. Or you know, identity exploration via android/virtual identity/etc. So many ways you can go with this and I'm pretty sure I'd love any of them.
AU - Ballet
Natasha as an actual ballerina and Clint could work there or be a danseur or whatever pleases your fancy.

I editted my letter and posted a comment about it over in the group. Hopefully my gifter will see it and/or isn't a fan of either of those things anyway. :/
