Traditional food

(Cooking, eating, thinking about... Don't care. Been writing a character who makes it for his sister and it's been interesting and fun, so passing along accordingly)

Original Drabble: Comfort Food

There was something comforting about making tradition food together with family in the traditional way. No matter how much better the new things were, the modern things, it didn't have the warmth of slow-roasting a batch of golden granola, honey-sweet scent and darkening almonds filling the air with its scent.

"These were the best mornings," Marie told her mother. "It was always a good day when you made granola."

Her mother smiled and put an arm around Marie's shoulder. Marie had her own house now, her own children, but every so often she came home.

Those were the best mornings.

Those really are good mornings.

Not that we had homemade granola, but that kind of a moment is still so special.
