There's something lyrical about this one. It just draws you in and lets you swim around. It's the first story I've ever seen without any quotation marks for the dialogue. I'm tempted to say, just leave them out, this lyrical, dream-like quality is just that good.

Wow. Am I really only six pages in? This is where I remark to myself, I'm sitting in the hands of an author who knows what they're doing.

Twelve pages: still hooked.

Wow. (I'm saying that a lot.) On page seventeen, and I'm genuinely awed at how real this is, how it handles these deep, crazy hurts and makes me feel them but not die with them; it's not drama; it's poetry, and it's perfect.

I don't think I'd care if there were chapter breaks. I could keep reading this without them until I hit the end (don't end).

It ended. You better be reading this, [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue, 'cause I expect you to get back on it.

And now, I have to go transcribe...

Here via borrowed bandwidth from the heart of suit-up-and-surf country, does that sound familiar? I'm humbled and so hugely complimented by your comments. I'm dreaming in characters and have been this whole trip. If the progression holds then tonight is Tom's turn and who knows where that will lead. This is a story being told to me in fits and starts and I will finish it but I will take it where it wants to go as it wants to go there. Thank you so much for taking the time to take a look. For the record my Chicago Manual of Style-trained inner editor tried putting dialog in quotation marks and got through about three pages. I shook my head and took them all out again. It was the way the story wanted to be told, I'm more than sure about that.
