This is how geeky I am about words:

1. My recent Bible studies have been with Strong's and I'm learning things I never knew or heard taught. I'm in love. Really.

2. I spent a half hour today searching for the correct way to display a nasalized a (as in ah). By the way, for the curious, it's ã [alt + 0227].

3. I want somebody to code an easy to use language storage software that allows me to input a word and it's paradigm and how it works and which rules it follows and then have it spit back out the appropriate Excel table when queried. This would be instead of manually coding not easily searchable and linked Excel worksheets of my own.

4. I use words like "conflate," "connotative vs. denotative," and "esophagus" in everyday conversation.

5. My editor for original fiction is constantly reducing the cost of my prose to something the average human being can read.

6 sort of. I love pure science, knowledge for the sake of knowledge. If I could just get that bent toward applied science, knowledge with a purpose (like being helpful or more loving, etc.), maybe I could be a little more sensitive to other people. Hmmm... There's a thought.

P.S. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter, for the thoughts. I think they helped.

P.P.S. If anyone knows how to program a simple spreadsheet kind of handling program or knows someone that does, I'd love to know! There may be only 100,000 conlangers in the world, but really, there's got to be something easier than Excel! I just found SIL Fieldworks. It shows promise. :hops up and down excitedly:

And here I was thinking I was the only one.

Glad that something I said may have sparked something for you. If you want to chat or just bounce ideas off me, you know where to find me.

I'm glad you're learning so much with our Bible studies! <3

Heh, you and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum with regards to pure science and applied science. I can't deal with pure science. I'm always wanting to know "But what is the point?"

teeehehe re: 2. as for 3 though...what the huh? *jaw drops* oookay. i thought tryingand retryign and retrying to find the right accented vowel on yorukeyboard was weird enough. Oh now i want to ask you something. is it strange that i've always felt i didn't seem to need grammar lessons or explanations of why one bends a verb soandso. for some reason it just always popped out naturally. Which is odd. I mean how can I know something already when I haven't done it before...
