This was everything I could have hoped for and more, m'dear. You get in Henry's head in a way that makes sense. Black and white science versus coloured reality. It's a lovely contrast.

And then you deliver the killing blow:
He wanted to give her the world. And then she told him she did not want the world.
Oh, goodness, ouch. That hit hard, fast, and well.

These two are perfectly tragic, and I've got to say that this feels so very right in the X-Men: First Class context. I was so choked by how the relationship between them got so very little, and how the fallout wasn't given a good deal of time...mainly because I wanted to ship them so hard.
(I may still want to, even post-film. "Mutant, and proud," she tells him. She still cares for him and it's wonderful)
Here, you give them -- and Henry specifically -- the moment they deserved. Thank you.

I so want to ship these ones two. Sometime, we need to have a shipfest and just write up some goodness on them. I love them and I hate what happened, but she was SO willing to take him back. :huffs: Well, I'm glad you liked the piece. :squee: I've just loved these two and I'm glad you asked me to do something with them. (And I HAD to figure out how I could forgive his atrocious comment. This was it.)

We *do* need to have a shipfest over this. I love these two, if only for the gorgeous tragedy that's them. It's beautiful. They get so close -- SO close -- and yet, it all falls apart. Even when they go their separate ways, there's still that connection. She wants only the best for him, in the same way he only wanted the best for her.

That's exactly HOW to forgive that comment! He wanted to give her the world. He wanted to give her what he defined as perfection, because he cared so deeply. He simply didn't understand exactly what SHE wanted.

Once again, my ignorance shows and my research turns up nothing useful. How would one go about setting up a shipfest? It would help if anyone would settle on a single definition too!
