THERE ARE WORDS FOR THIS SOMEWHERE BUT ALL I HAVE IS FLAILING ARMS.

Nrgh. I had caught wind of this on DivergentNation, and was wondering right from the announcement of this 'contest' what scene it would be. I was putting money on either the ferris wheel or this one. I AM SO GLAD IT WAS THIS ONE.

The description of Al.
The fact that Four was planning on going factionless.
ERIC. JUST ERIC.
The sheer analytical prowess Four demonstrates and the whole backstory with Amar (Did Amar guess at Tobias' divergence? Did he help Four because of it? I NEED TO KNOW MORE)...gah. It's wonderful.
And then she clinches it with that last line. Not even the last three lines. That. Last. Line.

That's Four.

That's brilliant.

I flipped out, me. And that gorgeousness of his opinion of Tris's looks, and his trying to push her to remember her strength, and yessssssss, the Eric+Four interaction, and yeesh, I need to know about Amar, and fluke aptitude test? and going factionless, and I just about wept over that last line (see previous comments on his harsh edges). I'm seriously in love here. Seriously.

The fact that Four kicked in Eric's teeth back during their initiation made me insanely happy. And the paranoia on Four's part re: Eric? GAH!

And his thoughts about Abnegation grey being the strongest armour possible? I died. I DIED.

I NEED FOUR AND AMAR'S STORY NOW. YESTERDAY. SOONER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I'm already starting to formulate headcanon, and having Thoughts About Things, and I just want to know more.

This is just cruel, Roth. REALLY FRIGGING CRUEL.

You going to write Four+Amar? I'm thinking upon how to fic out some of my reactions here and I've got a few dozen directions to go. Seriously. I kind of wish Roth would share the manuscript that preceded Divergent. She was writing Four's story before she decided to write Divergent instead.

I would love to, but the problem is my ideas aren't really coalescing into anything that resembles a story. However, if you were to write something/anything, I would most certainly cheer from the sidelines.

I didn't realize that was the case! I'd be intrigued to read that manuscript too. Though, really, I suppose that there's a reason she wanted to share Tris' story and not Four's, which is why we got "Divergent" and not something else. So maybe there are things better left untouched.
But damn if I don't want to see that manuscript anyhow.
