Ashen is a girl I've got lined up to write more about, a former operative from another team. Jordan Michael on the other hand, I'm not so sure about, except that he truly overestimated how well he knew her and couldn't cross that bridge at the moment of truth.
Well, he doesn't have to be a part of the happy ending. I just... Knowing what little I do about the operatives/specials, it seems like they all deserve a bit of happiness after what happened to them when they were forced to serve, so Ashen should get one, too, right?
Right. :grins at you: You really get this storyworld, you know that? I think you'll like the story percolating in my head for her that made this one come so easy. And now I really need to get this "Dowse and Bleed" done and out of the way so I can get on with life. It's so much, stop, percolate. stop, percolate. scrap, rewrite, that it's not even funny.
It's a storyworld I can really wrap my head around and get into, and something like what I'd write. I think I kind of came slightly close-ish once, so that helps.
I'm excited to see more.
Well, that should make the story really good when it's done, right? All that work?
Well, if you would like someone to read what you have and give you thoughts, I'd be willing to do that. Don't know that I can give my usual quick-turnaround because I'll be down in Denver for training for most of tomorrow, and brain dead after that, but... still... Willing to read. :)
But that's the issue. This one isn't Mira's story. Ah, well. I actually know her pretty well, just not whether Rachelle's story needs her.
She's a pattern, a naturally gifted that was used to figure out how to create operatives in the first place, which means she's graciously blessed with no side effects. Her little sister is the healer that I need there at the end with Rachelle, but I'm kind of just doing the one word after another bit until it becomes clear how this casting issue's going to shake out.
Sometimes characters need to be there, and sometimes they don't, but you never know until you find the point where they're needed or you reach the end without them.
