Well... We briefly discussed the idea of using quotes from our stuff as prompts. Or there's all the long prompts we couldn't use as part of the lists because they're too long. I'm not sure how to direct it to only new parts, though. Well, I should since I drag all of my stories into new pieces and try for prompts as gap fillers when I can, but that's just how I seem to work. I think about how I can use a prompt to get from point A to point B and pick something that goes in the middle. Unless I'm writing post canon and then it's totally random what I might do.

So a point A to point B promptathon?

Hm... I can see how it would be helpful, but to be honest, that ISN'T how I use prompts. I fall back on my old hat description, if you know your characters, your premise, and the rules of your world, then the rest is inevitable but unpredictable even to you.

I use prompt as a launching point with characters in place if possible, then the rest just rolls out however. It's... Well, it is what it is.

I'm not sure what I'm doing though this exact second, I need to write a letter before I have to clean the kitchen in 40 minutes, but ignoring the verbal family drama is hard and breaking up my concentration.

I understand. We use the prompts in very different ways. I was just trying to find a way to make it work for you to go to new ground. I'm still not sure of a way to do that.

Sounds like you need a bit of quiet and less distraction. I'm on my way home at the moment so not as organized as I might be otherwise.

Oh... What if the prompts were for parts to fill? Or is that too... rigid? I know it doesn't work for me, at least not on its own, but if we said... Lisea training to fade again... Is that enough?

And... *hugs* May your family drama be less painful than mine always seems to be and resolved soon.

Thankfully, it's always flare up, flare down. It was just badly timed. I'm feeling a little better. I cleaned the kitchen. :) Prayer meeting's soon.

Okay, no book title list. There are always SOME repeats, but it did look a little better I thought when I culled the song list out. Hm. I'll come back to this puzzle in a bit.

I haven't finished putting together any new lists (though I added a ton of lyrics to sort through later), and I've got this letter and TWO fics (how did this happen?! :frets: ) due apparently. So I've got to knuckle down this evening and deal with that.

Mine repeats itself in vicious stupid circles, depending on who instigates it. Most recently it was my grandmother being controlling and going out of her way to make everyone else miserable just because she is, but now I am home and until my sisters start something I should be okay.

Relatively speaking. :/

I have so many cards already that almost everything is a repeat. Which isn't so bad if I haven't already paired it with more than one canon or if it has more than one canon it can go in, but there is a least one prompt that only fits one storyworld because of how the characters are or the world itself. (Like the brother's keeper popping up with a storyworld full of only children and aliens. Right. That I couldn't work around as much as I tried because there isn't even a surrogate or best friend there.)

I wanted to make a bunch more lists since I burn through prompts fast, but I haven't had any inspiration for lists in a while and keep looking at mine as fail.

I hope you get what you need to do done. I've got a list of things I have to deal with but they all need to be done on a week day, so tomorrow, I guess.

You should mention optout of brother's keeper. By the way, that's an expression that actually isn't literally. But yeah, if you mention, I'll nix it before it goes in.

I tend to hear bible verses when I read the expression in generally, but the story world it paired up with... The people there wouldn't use it. Not only would the aliens not be familiar with it, the two main characters hate everyone and alienate them, so there is no one who would be "kept" in any sense. Best I could do was twisting it to have someone say they weren't but they're not the type to draw off that background, either. They're damaged and bitter and get along through insult wars. It just flat out doesn't belong in that world.

There are other worlds I could use it in, but not that one.

Why would you need to include the words? It's an idea of being responsible for someone else's wellbeing or denying it. I wouldn't expect anything other than the idea to show up. Of course, that's me.

The idea wouldn't even come up in the world. That's what I'm saying. The aliens don't expect them to be responsible for anyone, they wouldn't be, and they wouldn't need to deny it, either. I suppose it could be argued that by hating everyone they are in a constant state of denial but that doesn't make it a prompt I could use with the world because it doesn't bring anything new to it.

Whenever you feel like responding is fine. I was just trying to help, but if it doesn't help... Just forget it. I don't... I am still struggling to find a way into writing myself and veer toward desperate when I can't.

I wasn't negating that at all. You mentioned they wouldn't use the words and that was puzzling. Didn't mean to sound like I meant anything other than huh, why would the words themselves matter. It was a question, not a suggestion. Sorry.

I'm sorry, too. I am a bit oversensitive at the moment. I wasn't clear about things, but it is also true that they wouldn't use the words. It's also not really a part of the dynamic there. The aliens are separatists who want the humans gone and the humans don't want anything to do with anyone, human or alien so it's just not something I could place there but I was reacting like you were telling me I was being dumb and still could when that wasn't really what you meant. I overreacted.

I heads upped everybody quite recently that I took over as pinch mod for an exchange. We're in matching and I have a fic due AND a crazy work deadline. I don't expect to be to the nonlurking stage with everyone I love and care about any time before modding has ceased to take over my life.

Very sorry I'm so overcrowded just now. I probably shouldn't have jumped in to the mod job, but there was a need and I have a hard time saying no even when it kills other things I really wanted to do for people. Or my own cards/fiction. I haven't had a chance to write to any of my own cards and don't foresee any now.

I hate to say it, but there's a reason I told you I'd spend some time making lists, then stop. I do not have time to make them continually. It's that or write and I'm losing writing time at an extraordinary pace. So far that's affected nondeadline fiction the worst, One Good Storm and trovia's birthday fic at the top of the nondeadline fiction list.

And this isn't me saying you're too much. You're not. This is me saying I've got too much on my plate and I love you but I can't put more on it just now, I just can't.

Generally, in my life, when people ask that, they want the answer to be yes. It was surrounded by comments with stuff for me to do, so I assumed because that's my life.

Sorry. But I am that stressed and was saying that. You can comment to me, but just please don't ask for updates. Not because you can't or it's wrong, but because I'm just too stressed, which isn't your fault at all. Sorry for stressing at you.

Well, it would have been nicer for you if you had, but I was asking to make conversation, as a sort of "how is it going?" I didn't expect it to get that kind of response.

I made a couple new lists because I'm still unable to write and the older ones weren't working. I figured you could look at them later but mostly when I make a new one it's because I'm banging my head against the old ones and getting nowhere.

I've been very depressed the last couple days, which always makes me more desperate to write so that's all the lists were, me trying to cope again.

If you are stressed I can leave you alone until you're done modding. I don't want to be trouble.

Are you done? has always been a request/demand for finished work. It's not you. It's me.

My sister also loves for me to have written stuff she can read and will promptly talk through my entire reading time. It's a thing I deal with, and 85% of the time or more, it's been applicable, so I have a trigger. Sorry.

You really can talk. I just needed to realize you weren't needing an update or immediate response because I have maxed needs, but just talk is fine. Again, not you, me.

It's not really like I have much of use to say. Same old woes of life, being broke, and not being able to write... I don't need to be bothering you when you're busy.
