Maria paused and looked at both of them, then sighed longsufferingly. "Yes, Clint, it's a hickey." She straightened her turtleneck and moved to the next report.
He sat back, all attention again, but looked entirely too pleased.
"Your handwriting is still atrocious," Maria noted. "And please tell me you didn't actually bring home a stray dog from your kill mission?"

Steve wasn't sure whether her surprise was pleased or not. "Thought it'd be a nice change from takeout."
Maria nodded. "I suppose."
She started to slip out of her jacket, then Steve was there helping her out of it because she may have been the kind of woman to rule SHIELD with an iron hand, but she was also the kind of woman who liked small luxuries and little meaningful gestures. He paused before pulling it all the way off and kissed the nape of her neck lightly.
She caught her breath. He hung up her jacket on the rack before looking at her. He didn't get the chance to say another word before she was dragging his head down for another, much longer kiss.

She'd seen that worried frown between his eyes and flattening his mouth before when she had clearly spent too long at the office.
Maria didn't give him a chance to say anything. She pulled him down to kiss him fiercely. His mouth found his way to her neck again.
"Like that," she ordered.

He'd made his way here sometime after SHIELD went down and for some reason, looking at her, asking for help—"You're Peggy's family, right?"—she let him in and let him stay, keeping him secret from SHIELD and the CIA alike.
He noticed her looking at him and opened his mouth. "Thank you," he said, abrupt like he didn't know quite how to handle conversation yet, and from everything she could tell, he really didn't.
Sharon smiled and considered whether it was safe to slowly approach and get food out of the refrigerator to make dinner.
She hadn't expected him to step forward with that speed and grace he'd been known to use in battle, spiking her adrenaline and heart rate, and...
Kiss her.
Warm mouth, softer on hers than she'd ever expected, kissing her gently before he pulled away. Vague uncertainty colored his gaze.
She stared at him, hand on her mouth, then smiled again, uncertain herself. "I'll make dinner," she said softly.

Clint ran his thumb over Bobbi's cheek, and she squinted up at him. Yeah, he'd wondered about it.
He leaned over and kissed her forehead gently. "I don't think now's the time to talk about it."
It was loss talking. The last thing Clint should be was her rebound.

He started to open the car door to get out and she put a hand on his arm to stop him, leaning forward in the same motion to kiss him firmly and pull back matter-of-factly. She'd almost lost him. This was her statement that he was hers and she wasn't about to give that up.
Clint studied her for a moment, then leaned in slower and kissed her longer, more thoroughly than she'd kissed him. His hand came up to cradle her jaw. He pressed his mouth more firmly against her skin, a kiss that made her lean into him to feel him better. His hands were warm on her waist. He nuzzled her gently and she sighed, the only sound of approval she allowed herself to give him.
