Rebranding

In short, the fam does not like fanfiction. They are finally getting a bit more internet involved and my normal nom de plume is also part of my personal email addy. We're changing it. Everywhere.

Except here just yet, seeing as I can't afford the fifteen bucks. But working on that...

Would security levels work on LJ or is most of your reading audience the public? Because that would be a good minor detour, at least temporarily.

I wish it would work, but there's the small matter of my username being a name they KNOW I use, so it's the name itself more than anything else. Hmm... Come to think of it, I better hit the tags list.

Hope then none of them decide to look at the ID number then because while the renaming changes everything, the ID number you're known on LJ does not. There is a way of going around that but it's very annoying.

Well, they don't know my ID # or even that I'm on LJ. So if I DO change username, they won't have any particular reason to think this journal is me.

You can always mislead them using LJ but again annoying process. Another friend of mine did it and it worked like a charm.

You can at least make sure your LJ doesn't show up on searches via the privacy options.

That's always really awkward. Do you turn up in organic google searches too?

I don't use Google, but I searched me on Yahoo and did a headdesk. Temporarily unpublished my site until I can strip any remaining references and hoping the change on FF.net will take soon. Ugh! This is a headache.

Thanks, y'all. I am still going to change the username once I have monsies again (squints towards end of tunnel), but I feel much better for now. I've got everything on new email and changed all my account names to scribblemyname. (I had to think of something, and that seemed okay, so I went with it.)
