scribblemyname: (buried: under the rubble)
Wrote almost all of them this morning. I've got three more holiday fics to catch up, I think, and several outstanding ones for other folks I care about, in particular:

Its Hour Come Round at Last | Research needed...
for [info]in_the_blue

Let Us Reason Together | 3 out of ?
for [info]likeadeuce

Huge apologies for the delays.

Also, sorry for forgetting the cuts earlier. Didn't mean to crowd anybody's friends page.
scribblemyname: (Christmas Tidings)
Merry Christmas to all of you, my lovely f-list! I love you all and pray that God bless you all immensely.

As for the holiday fics, well, um... I like [livejournal.com profile] xenokattz. Epiphany, anyone?

I'll do my level best to get some of these out sooner than that, but no promises. I do apologize. Much, much.

From [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue:

Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you, They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

Vardin
This, of course, has nothing to do with the fact that [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue is my beta for all stories written in the Vardin world, of which hopefully there will be many. Vardin is sort of the culmination of years of mentally rewriting the evolutionary theory behind superhero mutations into something with concrete scientific rules that make sense and categorize it all neatly. Somewhere in there, a medical terminology course didn't help either. It's fun and logical and illogical all at once, but since I absolutely adore biochemistry and genetics, it was inevitable that I'd eventually turn these stories into original fiction with all the original characters and multifandom bases I'd been playing around with since forever.

busy as a bee
Um... Yeah. Busy I am. I don't seem to know how to stop, even when it's not just good for me, but necessary. I'm always headed in a thousand directions. Real healthy, yeah? :rolls eyes at self:

Rogue/Gambit
Favorite X-Girl was always Rogue, so when I decided to dip my toes back into fandom a few years back, I looked her up, read a bunch of stuff, got inspired, wrote a bit, then discovered Gambit. I was like, "My favorite character has a love interest?!" Then, of course, I fell in love with Gambit. Sometimes I wonder if I actually love him more now.

Christianity
Wasn't expecting this one, though I cannot tell you how awesome it felt that it made it on the list. I often feel I'm too shy about being Christian. It's easy to let the world make me feel ashamed of being Christian or at least of talking about it, like it's okay to bash Christians, just not anybody else, and please, keep your ideas to yourself. And then throw in fanfic, which is about characters that only rarely share even a fraction of my beliefs, and I occasionally wonder how good of a Christian I really am. But there you have it. It made the list. And I love God and it's a part of who I am.

writing
This really wasn't a surprise. Writing is the one thing I swear is written on my blood and bones. There is nothing I would rather be than a writer. Nothing.

Naturally, comment and I'll list you in 5.

Congrats, everybody who is working and making progress and writing and creating beautiful things I should be commenting on. I'm reading some (not much) and commenting little (less) because right now, my schedule is more jammed packed then you would believe.

I'll still be posting because I've got lots to do and I do a lot of it here and on my other websites, but even that may slow (or increase, who knows?).

If you want to see my current stats for submitting my writing, it will be on Liana Mir on the sidebar.

If you want to read what I'm scribbling, the only comprehensive updating location will be [livejournal.com profile] 15_minute_draft, though stuff may show up here, at Liana, on my ff.net profile, or in comments (or nowhere else maybe).

Sorry, but hugs to you all! You are awesome!

I'll see you all in December!

1. I got a haircut. I asked the hairdresser to make it like the cut in my icon, but a little longer and without bangs. Love it.

2. Learned that I'm allergic to whatever the hairdresser used to straighten my hair. In the future, will take along my own product or ask her to pick another one and go lighter.

3. Took a break yesterday from writing.

4. Will try and update my little pieces floating everywhere today.

5. Thank you, everyone, for my little bits of happy. :hugs:
scribblemyname: (buried: under the rubble)
1. Feeling sick.

2. Still owe y'all next parts of By Any Other Name, To Be Wild, and Let Us Reason Together.

3. Discovered my new site has no statistics. :headdesk: Must install plugin. Tomorrow.

4. Must juggle pennies.

5. Cannot read my own handwriting. (This is a new and undelightful development.)

6. Got my hair cut. Yay!

Requesting cheeriness please: links, poetry, lovely thoughts, anything that has neither angst nor video.

Finally, launching. Now, just to get a beta I can run the gauntlet of Summerlight through 1000 words a week.

Any takers?

Also, should I crosspost all entries over here, some, or none? Thoughts? (don't want to spam you all)

scribblemyname: (future update: garden)
I'm writing, reading, planning, and will be posting a lot of stuff maybe end of the week. (I'm giving myself through Sunday.)

Anything you want to make sure I don't forget, feel free to comment. Also, I'm overhauling my icons to be more uniform in usage. I'm trying to decide whether to accept major default icon in previous posts by ignoring keywords or trying to work around those suckers. Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome back, [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue! Have fun in New Orleans, [livejournal.com profile] stormkpr! Thanks for all the great meming and reading, [livejournal.com profile] arliddian and [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce. Blessings and prayers, [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter. See you all soon!

So... I just put up my Completed Fanfics Index and noticed I have some under-represented pairings.

Accepting any prompts for the following:

X-Men: Evolution
Kitty/Piotr

X-Men Movieverse
Charles/Emma: "Dysfunction"
Gambit/Storm
Hank/Raven (yes, I'm working on a multi-part, but it's not done)
Logan/Storm: "Empty Spaces"
Bobby/Pyro/Rogue

If there's something else I don't write a lot (or at all) and you want to see (pref. in a fandom on the list), feel free to prompt for it. Images, music, quotes, whatever. I'll write a drabble or commentfic.
scribblemyname: (genius: hank/raven)
Memery from [livejournal.com profile] whipsy:

1. Give me a pairing (DCU, Marvel, ATLA, FNL, BSG, True Blood, crossovers welcome!)
2. Give me a TEXT FROM LAST NIGHT.
3. I'll write you a drabble or ficlet based on the scenario.
scribblemyname: (T-Minus 2 Days: sibling!Xavier)
So I've completed part 1 of Darkholme & Xavier. The last page seems a wee melodramatic, but it does fit in with the overall story arc. I'm thinking about 4 issues, if I can wrap it up that fast. (hope springs eternal) Anybody want to help?

This is my first comic. I'm just not willing to ship it unbeta'ed.
scribblemyname: (linkage: tango)
If you are female, you need to read this post by Justine Musk.

"A strategic woman, a powerful woman, is a brilliantly disruptive woman.

She’s dangerous."

"A powerful man falls into the category of powerful men.

A powerful woman creates (still!) her own category.

She is by her very nature a challenger and a rebel.

She has to defy the ingrained gender norms which encourage a woman to be good…but not great.

To be bright…but not brilliant.

To be creative…but not disruptive or innovative.

To play the game…but not to change it.

To play by the rules…instead of shifting the battlefield, to where she can make new rules."

That is how I felt today when I come back from lunchtime munchables and found my poor baby internet had died ignobly, given up the ghost, and taken most of my work for the afternoon with it.

:headdesk:

Well, it's back and higher speed than we've had before with a new router that's not supposed to die at random intervals. Yay!

In the meantime, what have we done with ourselves? (Yes, I know. I use the royal 'we.' This is a trait that can be annoying but not easily discarded.)

Well...

1. We made a handful of our [livejournal.com profile] pairing20in20 icons. The whole set is due by the 3rd, but Emma/Charles is quite interesting to pull off.

2. We completed the front and back cover and three and a half pages of the comic, Darkholme & Xavier, Vol. 1, "The Baby and the Bath Water."

3. Before the internet died, we reformatted and calameo'd about 7 fics.

4. We're working on our website and will soon have a lovely network of the LJ, original fiction WP, grammar whore WP, writing LJ, and FF. Soon is relative.

5. Did RL work. Some. It's tough to do when most of it is supposed to be done online.

6. Read "Conflict of Interests" by [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter. If you haven't read it yet, hie thee over and get yourself an eyeful. This is awesome.

:hugs to all:

1. Some drabbles for the Megan pen name—finally.

Flavored with Praise ~ Benny has to improvise on the potatoes.

The Square Root of Happiness ~ Ryan has another question for his twin sister's collection.

A Beautiful Day ~ Gabriella wakes to a hot, unpleasant morning but gets a surprise that changes her mind.

Rough Scribble | Stable Draft

2. Darkholme & Xavier, Vol. I ~ My first comic is begun. Frankly, it needs work, but I know where I'm headed now. :grins:

Rough Scribble

3. Commentfic!

Amazing
For [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter: Not everyhing can be painted in black and white. Hank/Raven

Refuge
For [livejournal.com profile] arliddian: The world is at war between mutants and humans. John has one place of refuge. Kyro

You Never Called
For [livejournal.com profile] whipsy: Emma does not need help, even when she knows the only one who could. Charles/Emma
scribblemyname: (eureka!: lightning)
from [livejournal.com profile] mwffj and [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter:

Give me the name of one of my ships. I’ll put my MP3 player on shuffle and make a graphic based on the song. (Optional: I'll also write drabbles for each ship/song combo.)

Who do I ship? Oh, goodness. Just consider anything het from the following fandoms and I've probably considered shipping it:

X-Men (any 'verse ~ don't know Ultimate, Wolvie, or Animated Series well)
The Secret Garden
Take the Lead
Mandie Movieverse
Razor Sharp
Andromeda
Roswell
Divergent
(I've got a few more, but I think that'll do, don't you? Try me if you want something else.)
scribblemyname: (scribbles)
Cross your fingers, say your prayers, or whatever else it is you do. I submitted the heavily revised version of "Crossing the Barrier" to Abyss and Apex. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue!
scribblemyname: (lithium coffee)
1. Abyss and Apex is reading stories this month.
Meaning, in short, that I love [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue for helping me out, 'cause if I can actually get this story pulled together, then I'll probably submit it. :crossing fingers and praying hard:

2. When signing up for a challenge like [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon where someone else isn't giving you the story idea...
Always, always, always have a backup idea. A Deadly Woman is at 1789 words, but there's no way I'll have it ready in time. So racked my brains and pulled another story idea that should work for this prompt. Something I could write in 1000 words maybe. Whoohoo.

3. Working at home is tough.
Speaking of which, I need to go and do. Spent enough time on writing and fandom for the day. Well, fandom. I still have to do some writing for the Megan pen name.
