I am halfway through a fic for [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter separately prompted but I lumped it in mentally, but here are the finished fics for [livejournal.com profile] stainofmylove's promptathon.

Hawkeye: A Lucky-Eyed View

A drabble that was actually hard to conceptualize at first, then I just decided to make a list and see what happened. Cute and fun and recip liked.

Bourne Legacy: Mend

So there's this theme in The Bourne Legacy of lostness. It's used in different ways and that's part of why it resonated so well at the end of the movie for me when Marta says she was hoping they were lost. She spends so much of the movie a little lost and a lot broken and you can see that there was emotional/personal trauma before the events of the movie, then she went through a lot of trauma in it that isn't really glossed over. She's lost, she doesn't want to know, she shuts down Aaron when he asks her what she thinks they do out there, if she realizes the practical application of her "science."

"We were there for the science," she said.

"You cannot be that naive."

Throughout this movie, she wants to be lost, she doesn't want to look at things, but even in that, it changes from this broken, head-in-the-sand thing to knowing and choosing to turn away for something better and different and becomes healthy. It's fascinating. Thus, this fic.

He's lost.

Hawkeye: My Bruises Are All Older Than You

Hawkeye and Hawkeye and bad date were the prompt. Bad date. Their bad date? It didn't feel right. It niggled and I looked and I got a bad date for Kate and Clint being there for her and there's history with Kate and why she became a hero in the first place and there's history with Clint and why Kate's history is something he didn't handle well in the comics in the past. This resulted.

Hawkeye: Legacy (or What's in Me is in You)

There's this panel in Fraction's run where Clint says what's in him is in Kate, and the prompt was "I'll be reaching for the stars with you; who cares no one else believes," which made me think of how Clint's the first to correct anyone who thinks of Kate as the junior half of their duo. He'll tease, "protege," but she's not junior or lady hawkeye or anything like that. She's Hawkeye just like he is.

Those thoughts just collided and here, have a ficlet.

MCU: You and Me Both

I was shocked at how much response this Clint/Bobbi piece got. [livejournal.com profile] geckoholic did the asking and it was looking for yourself in someone else, and here came this moment when I thought about what Bobbi was looking for in Clint and found. A lot of Bobbi/Hunter feels cropped up and rebounding and rebound sex and secrets and lies and what that means in a spy's spy's world and the fact that MCU Clint seems pretty good at the kind of comfort a spy's spy will accept. So here you go.

Bourne Legacy: Here Be Dragons

Marta, Aaron, PTSD, triggers, muscle memory, and sex. That's it in a nutshell. The prompt about off the map inspired both lostness and the feeling of there's no map to their bodies and their relationship when you consider what they came out of, but they make it work and work around the very real "dragons" that haunt them.

They slay the dragon of his nightmares, her arms wrapped tenderly around him, her kiss on the back of his neck as he shudders because he cannot touch her there but it is one place he likes to be touched. They soothe the dragons under the skin of her wrists and the skin of his elbows where they were held down and restrained by those who sought to kill them.

Want a ficlet? Still open for prompts
scribblemyname: (616 hawkeye)
So my Hawkeye and Hawkeye fic is no longer anonymous. I went through three plans for this and two or more iterations. [livejournal.com profile] geckoholic gave me a generous beta and made the little things come together, besides handholding and bouncing ideas around because I needed ideas for how to spin something larger than the prompt of friendship and the Hawkeyes. They embody friendship and I just needed a little something more.

She gave me a new word for them: legacy. I hadn't really thought about it before we chatted how much alike they really are. Clint started around the same age Kate did, just earlier. No wonder he saw himself in her and mentors her, yeah, but is the first to point out to everyone else that she's his equal and he admires and looks up to her too. They teach each other.

There's multiple quotes bouncing around where Clint calls Kate his protege, usually teasingly. There's one scan I bumped into (don't quote me on where) where the title went the other way around and neither objected. That was really what inspired this fic.

So yesterday, I got tagged for the Daily Count Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] 1_million_words. I decided to finish up WIPs because 1) smart and 2) I'm only counting the word count for finished fics. I went for three: the "game if you are" fic for [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter on the Ficlet O'Clock, a soulmarks AU for Bobbi/Clint/Natasha I started right after a long Bobbi chat with [livejournal.com profile] enigma731, and a Hawkeye Squared hurt/angst fic for [livejournal.com profile] geckoholic that did not gel for me, but hey, two out of three not bad.

Secrets (The Unusuals)

The idea here was syllabic dribbles. In short, I was riding along to work one day and had just written this syllabic poem where there were so many syllables to a line instead of so many metrical feet, and I suddenly wanted to write syllabic drabbles of 100 syllables. Then I thought also of dribbles, which are 50 words/syllables, and then I hit [livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter's prompt and thought, why not? I'll try it here. I was going to write 50 of them, but I exhausted the arc as I wanted to tell it (which is totally non-linear by the way), and so stopped at 30.

This Is the Way You Play the Game (MCU)

With a hint of comics flavor at the end, so not really sure if it's up a comics/MCU separatist's alley.

So I wrote "Made and Meant" for the [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised promptathon and what actually grabbed me that I wanted to write more was the complex soulmark system, again bumping into platonic soulmates and what does that mean anyway?

Then I like soulmarks appearing at birth, but it bothers me if you have a birth soulmark that's based on the personality/activities of a person down the line, how is it so accurately prophetic? So I decided to do something different. What if soulmarks only show up once you've solidified a line of probability for yourself and life? I mean, Natasha would have been a completely different person if she hadn't been raised by the Red Room. What if her soulmark for Clint simply never would have shown up if she or he hadn't become the kind of person right for each other?

Then of course, I OT3'ed it and slapped the focus on Bobbi. And wrote a bedroom scene. I will get the hang of writing those scenes again. I will.

Because. Reasons. (616)

And then there's the Hawkeyes. I'm having a hard time getting into Clint's head for once, which is unusual for me. I swear, whoever picked his birth date should move it towards mine. Every "signs" post that matches me on the "Cancer" matches him like no tomorrow. :le sigh:

Anyway, I got words. We'll get them into fic shortly.
scribblemyname: (616 hawkeye)
I've got a lot of somethings on the docket and a lot of fics in progress, but here's a snippet that I just liked, so wanted to share.

Kate usually used other people like furniture, curling up on them or throwing her legs over Clint's, but Natasha had moved into her usual space on the couch and stretched out over Clint more expansively than even Kate would have.

"Um, guys," Kate said, holding the popcorn bowl hostage and ignoring the wagging dog at her feet. "Show's about to start."

It was time for the Dog Cops season finale and Clint had taken it as a given that she was joining him.

Natasha moved her legs forward four inches, taking Clint's with her and leaving just enough space for Kate to crawl behind if…

She gingerly stretched her legs out over the Black Widow's.

"You can sit all over him," Natasha said, "as long as you don't walk all over him." She reached out and tucked her fingers into the popcorn bowl for a few kernels.

It wasn't actually Clint that Kate was worried about.

"She's like a cat," Clint commented, pushing his knee up to bump Natasha, whose expression turned indulgent at the gesture. "If she lets you sit on her, she's chosen you."

Small relief.

"Or else she's secretly plotting to kill you," he just had to go and add.

He snaked his hand into the bowl and stole some popcorn with a grin.

Kate's eyes slid to the side to study Natasha with deep suspicion.

Natasha smiled.
