A Day of Ficcing It
Mar. 23rd, 2015 07:47 amSo yesterday, I got tagged for the Daily Count Challenge at
1_million_words. I decided to finish up WIPs because 1) smart and 2) I'm only counting the word count for finished fics. I went for three: the "game if you are" fic for
lithiumlaughter on the Ficlet O'Clock, a soulmarks AU for Bobbi/Clint/Natasha I started right after a long Bobbi chat with
enigma731, and a Hawkeye Squared hurt/angst fic for
geckoholic that did not gel for me, but hey, two out of three not bad.
The idea here was syllabic dribbles. In short, I was riding along to work one day and had just written this syllabic poem where there were so many syllables to a line instead of so many metrical feet, and I suddenly wanted to write syllabic drabbles of 100 syllables. Then I thought also of dribbles, which are 50 words/syllables, and then I hit
lithiumlaughter's prompt and thought, why not? I'll try it here. I was going to write 50 of them, but I exhausted the arc as I wanted to tell it (which is totally non-linear by the way), and so stopped at 30.

Summary:
With a hint of comics flavor at the end, so not really sure if it's up a comics/MCU separatist's alley.
So I wrote "Made and Meant" for the
be_compromised promptathon and what actually grabbed me that I wanted to write more was the complex soulmark system, again bumping into platonic soulmates and what does that mean anyway?
Then I like soulmarks appearing at birth, but it bothers me if you have a birth soulmark that's based on the personality/activities of a person down the line, how is it so accurately prophetic? So I decided to do something different. What if soulmarks only show up once you've solidified a line of probability for yourself and life? I mean, Natasha would have been a completely different person if she hadn't been raised by the Red Room. What if her soulmark for Clint simply never would have shown up if she or he hadn't become the kind of person right for each other?
Then of course, I OT3'ed it and slapped the focus on Bobbi. And wrote a bedroom scene. I will get the hang of writing those scenes again. I will.

And then there's the Hawkeyes. I'm having a hard time getting into Clint's head for once, which is unusual for me. I swear, whoever picked his birth date should move it towards mine. Every "signs" post that matches me on the "Cancer" matches him like no tomorrow. :le sigh:
Anyway, I got words. We'll get them into fic shortly.

Summary:
Bobbi's got the heart mark—marks rather, but if she's ever met the matched set, she doesn't know it. They showed up when she decided to become a field agent, right around the time she wondered why she'd had that mark on her hip since high school but never anything more special, more married forever, less on and off the rollercoaster with Hunter.
